Configuration of AVG plus Firewall

This page contains detailed instructions on how to configure the AVG plus Firewall software to allow Dabra to access the internet.

Click the images to see larger versions of the screens.

Automatic Configuration During Installation

Most personal firewalls will inform you when an application is attempting to use the internet and ask if you want to allow or block it. With AVG plus Firewall this request occurs during the Dabra installation by showing the following popup.

If at this time you click the Allow button and check the box labelled Save the answer as a permanent rule the AVG plus Firewall software will configure itself to allow Dabra access to the internet. You will never be prompted again, and the Dabra software will function as intended.

Manual Configuration of the Personal Firewall

If AVG plus Firewall was not auto-configured during the installation of Dabra, you can configure it manually to allow Dabra to access the internet.

Launch the AVG Control Center application:
Start > All Programs > AVG Anti-Virus > AVG Control Center

Click on the AVG Firewall label to change the bottom portion of the screen. This will show you the current status of the firewall, and provide you with a Configure button to click on for advanced options.

Clicking the Configure button will open a dialog box titled AVG Firewall Configuration. Switch to the Applications tab to see a list of all applications that AVG recognizes.

To add Dabra to the list of applications click on the Add Application button. This opens a screen that asks you to locate the application that you want to add. Click the [...] button to browse for the Dabra application at:

C:\Program Files\Obvious\Dabra\Bin\DabraAdmin.exe

Once you have selected that DabraAdmin.exe file, set the field labelled Action to Allow and then click on the OK button.

AVG will then redisplay the list of applications that it recognizes. Dabra will now appear in this list with Allow in the action column.

Click on the OK button to close the AVG plus Firewall Configuration window, and then close the AVG Control Center window. Dabra is now ready to use.
