| 4) |
How do I invite a friend to join the Dabra network? |
| |
If you send a Dabra secure email to a someone who is not on the Dabra network, they
will receive it as an encrypted attachment on their email message. Until they install
Dabra they will not be able to open this attachment.
However, The body of the email will include a link to the Dabra
registration page. After they register and install Dabra, they will be able to
decrypt the attachment containing your original secure email.
|
| 5) |
I have multiple email addresses, Can I secure them all with Dabra? |
| |
Yes. Dabra allows you to secure any number of email addresses, allowing you
to send and receive secure email on all of them. Each email
address that you wish to use will need to be activated
independently using the
account management screen of the Dabra administration application.
Corporate subscribers can obtain an activation key for email addresses by adding
users to their company account.
Individual subscribers will need to register each email address with Dabra to
receive an activation key for each one.
|
| 6) |
What does the validation date indicate on the Dabra manifest? |
| |
The validation date shows the last time a message to this email address was
successfully decrypted using Dabra. In effect, this indicates that the Dabra
subscriber was the "owner" of the indicated email address on the date shown.
|
| 7) |
What is included in the Dabra audit trail? |
| |
Every Dabra transmission lays down an audit record at the Dabra notary server.
This audit record includes: the authenticated identity of the sender, the
authenticated identity of the recipient, a notarized timestamp of when the
message was sent, a notarized timestamp of when the message was received, and a
cryptographic "fingerprint" of the contents of the email (including
attachments). Your private content itself is never sent to the notary server.
|
| 8) |
What do I do if someone sends me malicious content (spam, or viruses) using Dabra? |
| |
Using Dabra for malicious purposes is contrary to the acceptable use policy and
violators should be reported by forwarding details (including, potentially, a copy
of the offending email) to abuse@abrica.net.
To prevent future Dabra messages from this user place them on your Block list.
|
| 9) |
How do I know that a Dabra sender is who they say they are? |
| |
Dabra may be used by anyone to exchange secure email with anyone they know. Each
Dabra message includes a manifest which indicates the authenticated sender's
email address, the authenticated recipients' email address(es), a list of the
attachments, and the timestamp of the transmission. If you do not recognize, or
otherwise trust the identity of a Dabra sender, then you should treat their
email with the same caution you would if the email had been sent to you
unencrypted.

| 10) |
I want to have the email users at my company set up with Dabra. Is there an easy way to do this? |
| |
Yes. The corporate version of Dabra allows the Dabra administrator to add
others at the company to the Dabra network without requiring them to register independently.
Each user will be sent a unique activation key they will use when they install Dabra.
Dabra administrators have the authority to add and delete Dabra users under their
corporate email domain.
|
| 11) |
I am a corporate user and I want my customers to be able to exchange secure email with me at no charge. Can I do this? |
| |
Yes. The corporate version of Dabra can be configured to operate similarly to
how a 1-800 phone service works. Both outbound and inbound Dabra message
transmission fees will be charged to the company account. This feature can be
configured by a Dabra administrator of your corporate account.
|
| 12) |
I use GMail. Will Dabra prevent the Google content scanner from being able to read my email? |
| |
Yes. Dabra messages will appear to the Google server as encrypted attachments on
a standard GMail message. The Dabra email will only be decrypted within the
Dabra client window. The Google content scanner will not see the Dabra message,
and the message will never be saved unencrypted on Google's servers.
|
| 13) |
Can I send/receive Dabra messages using my webmail? |
| |
Yes. For webmail users, an inbound Dabra email appears as an encrypted
attachment to the standard email message. When the user double-clicks on it, the
Dabra message is decrypted and shown in the Dabra client window. An
outbound Dabra message is composed using the Dabra client. When it is securely
sent, a blind carbon copy (bcc) is sent back to the webmail address so that all
Dabra messages, inbound and outbound, will have an audit trail in your webmail
account.
|
| 14) |
Will Dabra work with my personal firewall software? |
| |
Yes. Most personal firewalls will detect when Dabra attempts to access the
Internet and will ask you if you want to allow this. Allowing this access
will automatically create a rule in your firewall. Dabra communicates with
the Dabra service over ports 80 and 443.
For more information please see the firewall configuration help pages.
